As i have and so many people before me.  there are two solutions you can enable the 3gb switch on your xp system or you can switch to a 64bit system witch i do recommend. When i was having this issue i had to look for a solution for about and hour so to save you guys some time i decided to write this

You have just Enabled your XP system to address more ram when next you start AE it should take effect

Here are some useful links for troubleshooting and Information

[AE CS4 Help Files on Multiproccesing]

Windows Xp 64bit -

If you did switch to windows 64bit then you have no problem. xp64 can address much more ram then its 32bit brother so put in as much ram into your pc as your mother board allows and go to school. AE is still a 32bit App so to address more ram then it is capable of AE lets you open instances of itself So on a 4 Core System with 16GB or ram

you can ran 4 instances of AE with 4 GB of Ram per instance and that makes life sweet you can read up on the instancing and multiproccesing futures in AE [here]

Hope this Helps and saves some one time cheers Guys
