Just Wrapped up my First Ever Full on Articulated Roto shot. It took about 22 hours of work which is Quite a bit of time but since it was my first shot ever and there was quite a bit of learning and starting over involved i figure it came out ok this is the first part to my roto demo reel and my first step towards getting a job at a major vfx shop.

So i Finlay watched James Cameron’s Avatar In IMAX 3D over the weekend, It was hard to get tickets i was trying since opening week the line was about two hours to get in the theater but i broke throe and sat 3rd row center, one of the few really good seats. The movie Was visually stunning. The 3D was so well implemented and not over used in a ‘in your face’ kind of way like the amusement parks do just because they can. i am not a movie critique so I wont go into details i will simply say that the movie was amazing and Mr Cameron is a visionary. now that we got that out of the way the minute i steeped out of the cinema i was obsessed, i had to know how? and with what ? and by whom ? all of this marvel was created so after some VFX research i found a bit of info i figured if some one out there was as impressed about this movie as i was maybe they will appreciate this.

Good news: Apple has released a Snow Leopard update that fixes a number of problems customers have reported. The Photoshop team has been helping Apple test these fixes and can confirm the following improvements:

Affecting multiple versions of Photoshop:

• 50654: When opening and saving, applications–including Adobe applications–may sporadically crash
• 51230: Images don’t open when dragged onto the Adobe program icon in the Dock

• 51220: Crash or program error occurs when using Menlo font in Photoshop and Premiere CS3 and CS4

CS4-specific:

• 51764: Only one image opens when many are dragged onto Photoshop’s icon
• 51278: Cursors don’t display correctly in Photoshop CS4
• 51339: Editing in Photoshop CS4 fails from 64-bit Lightroom in Mac OS X 10.6
• Cannot drag from Safari onto Photoshop icon (and other application icons) in Dock to open file

I have  been suffering from all the mentioned above issues since i updated. I am glad the finally fixed it so far i have not had any more problems

So after taking a look at my blog and seeing it in different light i have decided to stop my daily Freebie updates because i feel they are messing up my blog and are not as useful as a well written article so i am going to try and bring you more useful information then freebie textures and fonts i am not going to kill the freebie section all together i am simply going to make it a weekly or biweekly post in which i will condense brushes vectors fonts textures and more. I am also thinking about separating the Inspiration posts from the freebie section because it dose not really apply and maybe doing a separate weekly Inspiration Posts Stay tuned for that

i know i promised to make tutorials and i am trying with all my might to get some out however it is proving more difficult then i originally planed. I am distracted all the time by work and cant seem to find the time to think about a  good topic i was thinking maybe instead of starting AE tutorials in advanced levels or MAX tutorials i would go into basics like Basic Paint Skils for the inspiring artist or basic 3D or basic Motion Tracking.

When i was starting out i do remember it was very hard to grasp the basics simply because most tutorials on the web assume you have a basic understanding of how things are and build on that rather then start from the ground up. Another Idea i had was life tutorials i was introduced to a a web casting system yesterday that lets you share your desktop live in a chat room so i was thinking how cool would it be that me and my 2 faithful RSS readers can do a live cast and sort of build something cool just the 3 of us

But guys that’s all i had to say for this Update and please comment or i am going to spiral off into deep depression and start posting depressing songs that will make me feel better

Hey Guys, so i am done all the things i wanted to do with the blog. I will be officially going live next week, i hope. The only thing left to do is record my first ever Tutorial i am a bit nervous to say the least . i finished the title sequence for the tutorial and you will see it when the first tutorial is up here are some screen caps in the mean time

I know i have been M.I.A for a while but i have so many things in the works that i just cant find the time to post staff so sorry. But back to why i am posting a new friend of mine has come up with the VFX challenge for all you VFX lovers out there now if your like me the biggest problem i have is figuring out what to do when there is no client telling you what you can or can not do my brain tends to fly to places far way in which i spend millions of dollars and years in RD making something look epic and while i think about all the cool things i can do … i don’t get any thing done. So if you are like me and you think sometimes some guide lines are better then no guide lines at all VFX Challenge is for you. My Friend Alex over at Green Soda is the main man for this event Check the site out for all the Details  Cheers Guys.

So i made a new opening title for my reel that kind of matchs the theme for the site. i re posted the reel and updated it with some new projects check it out tell me what you think
